The technicians of the Cameroon Film Industry (CFI) recognize their load of responsibility
as the key machinery of the film industry trusted with the charge of transforming ideas and
texts to motion pictures / film / audiovisual content relevant to the purpose for which
motion pictures / films/ audiovisual productions are made, be it commercial, social or any
other purpose that fits and aligns with the CFI Productions Code. The technicians of the CFI
also understand that the quality of their work output not only contributes to global
entertainment, but plays a big part in generating income for the film sector, and also has a
considerable influence in the life of a nation and the global community.
Hence, we the TECHNICIANS GUILD OF CAMEROON abbreviated as TGC, are in alignment
with the fact that audio-visual art or motion pictures directly or indirectly influence the
spiritual, psychological, ethical or moral progress, including higher types of social life, and
correct thinking.
At a time when the technicians of the audio-visual art feel the need for professionalism, the
desire to understand different movie genres, so as to improve upon their input in the process
of filmmaking with respect to the desired demands of Directors, Producers and CFI as a
whole. Technicians also feel the need to understand the challenging daily demands of the
various Target Audiences that constitute the consumers of the contents produced by the
CFI.
The Technicians of the Audio –Visual Art / Film / Motion Pictures in Cameroon adhere to the
creative hierarchy of the CFI with respect to the CFI Production Code, but also expect their
rights and demands to be met with accordingly or taken seriously into consideration so as to
boost the spirit of creative cooperation, and enhance allow a level of freedom of opportunity
to fully express themselves with the approval of the necessary hierarchy, in effect carrying
the 7th art to an even higher level of wholesome entertainment for all (Cameroon, Africa and
the world.) thus contributing to the GDP of the country as well.

This document shall be harmonized for different technical Departments making up the
Technician Guild of Cameroon (TGC), each of which has the potential of becoming an
autonomous guild of its own. The operations of the Technicians Guild of Cameroon (TGC)
shall in no way jeopardize the autonomy of any other guilds making up the Cameroon Film
Industry (CFI).
I- OBJECTIVES AND MISSION
The principal objectives of the Technicians Guild of Cameroon (TGC) include but
are not limited to:
(i) negotiate agreements with employers on pay and conditions
(ii) To provide an elastic Work (Operation) Code for the technician guild of the
Cameroon film industry, which shall be attractive enough for them to willingly
adopt and use as a working guide to their creative processes.
(iii) To ensure, protect and defend the creative rights of the technicians, limiting
illicit consumption, exploration and exploitation of either their varying creative
skills and products, by highlighting and discussing members’ concerns with
employers (Producers, Directors and Department Heads/Leaders.
(iv) To create a memorandum of association or understanding with the producer’s
guild of Cameroon, so as to standardize remuneration methods and ranges of
salary rates with respect to working conditions and with respect to the
classification of technicians and create a yearly Upgradable National Catalogue
(UNC)of lucid standardized hire rates per technical department crew per day /
week / month, or per technical department package under similar working
conditions.
(v) To Identify, rate and classify film gear / equipment so as to include in the yearly
Upgradable National Catalogue (UNC) of standardized hire rates per gear or per
package.
(vi) To be able to determine the pay range for Technical Department Crew + Gear
package per day/ week / month, or complete Technical Crew Package pay range
to be included in the Upgradable National Catalogue (UNC), thus facilitating
investment on the Audio-Visual Art or Motion Pictures.
(vii) To meaningfully collaborate with other film stakeholders and guilds making
up the Cameroon film industry and to mediate, resolve, plead, argue or defend
their course in case of issues, that may pop up within the process of a production
between technicians and other film stack holders with respect to their code of
work and creative input in accordance to the CFI Production Code.

(viii) To lay down rules pertaining to the conditions rendering a technician illegible
to become a member and the stipulated quality required to duly represent the
guild.
(ix) Improve on filmmaking skills through continuous workshops, networking in a
purely technical and apolitical and non-partisan atmosphere.
(x) The TGC shall accompany members in disciplinary and grievance meetings,
provide members with legal and financial advice, and discuss major changes on
relative production sets such as the of scale redundancy.
(xi) Set up a functional Quality Control Unit (QCU) that shall scrutinize and
present observations made during previous productions or created contentment,
proposing ways by which technicians can further empower themselves and
improve on the quality of content created with respect to minimum professional
standards.
(xii) To help elucidate the need for technicians to express their creative knowhow
and professionalism in production and post production processes for the interest
of all.
(xiii) To help provide didactic material for skill upgrade …
(xiv) To negotiate, introduce and educate technicians on the benefit of insurance
policies for both the technicians and working gear.
(xv) The guild shall designate representatives to constitute the Board of Delegates
(BOD) of the CFI who shall serve as a liaison between the TGC and the CFI.
The principal mission of the Technicians Guild of Cameroon (TGC) include but are not
limited to:
To build an efficient socio-economic reformation through capacity building
workshops, collaboration and productivity.
ORGANIGRAM
i) The TGC has identified four major department;
1) Cinematographers; DOP, camera operators, gaffer, grips, continuity and focus
pullers
2) production designer crew; production managers, production designers, set
designers, costumers, make-up Artist, prosthetics, props master, visual artist
3) sound engineers; sound recordist, boom operator, post-production sound
mixer, folly artist, sound composer,
4) editors; editors, colorist, graphics designers, CGI specialist, subtitles editor

ii) the guild shall have representatives into the Board of Directors of the CFI who shall serve as
a liaison between the TGC and the CFI.
ii) As a member of the TGC, he/she act as patriots, donors, volunteers and
sympathizers who have voluntarily accepted to pay membership dues and all
other required contributions for the running of the TGC and then CFI.
ELIGIBILITY
i) A candidate must be a Cameroonian or a permanent legal resident in Cameroon and
must be 20yeas and above of age.
ii) A candidate must have a track record of at least 3 projects or be of good repute with
respect to services rendered within the industry in the capacity of a technical crew
personality.
iii) A candidate becomes fully eligible by submitting samples of previous works done, to
an evaluation team made up of 3 competent members, that shall be set up and
delegated to carefully analyzed the submitted works so as to admit, rate and classify
the eligible member according to his/her level as required.
iv) He / She is expected to demonstrate a sense of responsibility by willingly responding
to some arising, relevant demands of the guild, and should be willing to volunteer
where need be towards moves that will help improve the functioning of the guild.
A- THE BOARD OF EXECUTIVES
i) The Executive Board shall consist of 9 persons namely:
1. The president,
2. Vice president,
3. General secretary,
4. Treasurer,
5. Fin. Secretary,
6. Public relation officer #1 (Home based),
7. Public relation officer #2 (Diaspora),
8. Technical adviser #1
9. Technical adviser #2
ii) It shall comprise of the following distribution of members from the above-mentioned
departments: –
a) Three from the Production Design Department,
b) One from the Sound Department,
c) Two from the Editing Department,
d) Three from Cin
